My husband and I met online in the early 2000s when you had to log on to your dating site with dial-up. You know how I took my dating profile photo? I had to go to Fedex Kinkos and scan it to a floppy disk!

Feels like that was a lifetime ago!

Before I met my guy, I was a hugeee love skeptic. I didn’t think I’d get married after months of unsuccessful online dating.

I never was the girl in school who was chased by boys. I never had a date on Valentine’s Day. I always struggled to feel beautiful and to fit in.

Approaching my teenage year, I started to think I was too good for anybody. I was intelligent, I was performing academically.

In adulthood, I started to feel ‘peer pressure’. As my friends began to couple up I felt like I’d become a professional third-wheel.

Back then, dating in my city was really difficult. No one was really focused on a serious relationship. Everyone seemed distracted, superficial, or just plain uninspiring.

I was ready to hop on a plane to New York and start over because I thought that I would never meet someone where I came from.

Luckily, before I did a complete location shift, I decided to really examine HOW I’d been dating and WHY I felt so burnt out and discouraged. I wanted to see if there was anything I could do differently.

I didn’t want to get to New York and discover that the problem wasn’t where I lived, it was actually my approach.

In the process, I discovered that…

The micro-choices that I was making had been pushing love away.
I lacked a clear understanding of my ideal partner.
I maintained paper-thin boundaries with the guys I was dating, allowing them to trample my feelings along with my hopes of a real relationship in the process.

I was able to see clearly and develop a strategy that led me straight to my husband. We now have been married for 15 years.

I went from a complete love cynic to a happy relationship in the span of a couple of months after I made this SHIFT in online dating.

That is what lead me to be an online dating coach. I see how much my life has changed with this new outlook. Since that time, I have dedicated my life to helping others find love.
